The victim is a French woman who suffered a degenerative disease

An Alicante court has ordered an investigation into the death of a French woman who, according to reports, took her own life last Friday. It happened at her home on Albufereta Beach in the presence of volunteers from the association ‘Derecho a Morir Dignamente’ - ‘The Right to Die with Dignity.’

Named as Madeleine Z.B., she had suffered a degenerative disease since 2001.

The woman’s son, Domingo Biver, told EFE Television that he has filed a complaint against the association. He said he only found out they were present at her death by accident, and that his mother had quickly forgotten any previous wish to ‘end it all’ after a couple of days.
