The
Coastal Authority says the previously-announced process of land expropriations in
Nerja, Marbella and Málaga will start within six months. It comes about as a measure to protect coastal areas from property development.
It affects a total 500,000 square metres of coastal land on
Playazo Beach in Nerja,
El Pinillo and Las Dunas de Artola in Marbella, and
Arraijanal Beach in Málaga city.
The Director of the Authority,
José Fernández Pérez, who was speaking in Málaga on Monday, announced Environment Ministry plans to include another six areas of coastal land in the measure, in
Nerja, Vélez Málaga, Casares and Manilva.
He was in the provincial capital to present the Ministry’s plans for the province this year, which, for his department, amounts to 15 million €, and is double the 2006 investment. It includes 10 million € for beach regeneration.
