The Siemens engines for the new link were presented in Málaga by the Minister for Development yesterday
The Minister for Development, Magdalena Alvarez, herself from Málaga, yesterday presented the new locomotives which will run along the new AVE high speed train link from the city to Córdoba which comes into service later in the year. The Minister said that construction work was now 90% complete.
11 high speed trains, with 404 seats each, will cover the 22 daily journeys between Málaga and Madrid in just two and a half hours, travelling at a maximum speed of 350kms/hour.
The Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, was also at the presentation of the Siemens engines, and commented that the new train would represent a large leap forward for tourism.
