Nerja-La Herradura motorway could open on 1st Marchlarger |
smallerBy m.p. - Feb 21, 2007 - 9:40 PMOfficial confirmation is yet to come from the Development MinistryIt now looks as if the
Nerja to La Herradura stretch of the
Autovía del Mediterráneo will open to traffic on 1st March, according to reports in the local press in both Granada and Málaga provinces.
Some quote sources at the construction company,
Dragados y Obras Subterráneas, saying that the official inauguration will take place one or two days before that, depending on diary commitments for representatives of regional and central government.
There is still, however, no official confirmation from the Development Ministry.
The 9.6 km stretch of motorway has cost 140 million €, and is the most expensive section of motorway in Spain.
Its inauguration comes almost five years after
Francisco Álvarez Cascos, Development Minister with the previous Partido Popular government, laid the first stone in April 2002.
