The former PP Mayor took up his constitutional right to silence, saying he will only speak when he is furnished with the charges and evidence against him
The Partido Popular ex-Mayor of Andratx, under arrest for alleged real estate corruption, took up his Constitutional right to silence on Wednesday, and refused to answer questions from the investigating judge.
Eugenio Hidalgo said he would only do so when the secrecy which covers some part of the case summary is lifted, and he is informed of the charges and evidence against him.
The municipal works attendant, Jaume Gibert, also refused to declare, and both men were returned to prison in Palma de Mallorca.
Hidalgo’s lawyer said the judge told him that he would not review the bail situation again until the end of March, when the two-month remand period decreed on 1st February expires. He said the judge’s decision is not related to Wednesday’s events in court.
Others are called to declare in the court investigations on Thursday.
