María Rosa Jimeno already faces money laundering charges

Juan Antonio Roca’s wife has been arrested this morning in Marbella.
Roca is the man at the centre of the real estate corruption Malaya case in the town, and used to be the municipal real estate assessor.

María Rosa Jimeno was arrested at home, and is understood to face more money laundering charges.

She last made a statement to the judge investigating the Malaya case, Miguel Ángel Torres, last December, when she was released with charges for money laundering remaining outstanding against her.

The Malaya case has revealed the huge amount of assets which have been amassed by Juan Antonio Roca during his time in Marbella Town Hall.

There have also been three other arrests in the case this morning, among them Roca’s 20 year old daughter and son in law. The other arrest is reported to be a Spanish woman, who was reportedly close to Roca. She is said to have sold winning lottery tickets to Roca as a way of money laundering.

All those arrested this morning have now been taken to Málaga central police station for questioning, and searches of premises in Marbella are reported to be continuing.
