The Canary Islands are on alert today for more heavy rain.
More than 70 litres per square metre is expected over a twelve hour period. Winds of over 120 kms/hour are forecast on high ground in La Palma and Tenerife.

The cold and snow which affected most of mainland Spain yesterday is now moving away, with only inland areas of Barcelona and Tarragona expected to be affected by fresh snow today above 600m.
On the roads the Portillo de la Lunada mountain pass in Burgos remains closed, and snow chains are needed on another 12 mountain passes on the main road network.

It will generally cloudy across the entire country today. Easterly winds with strong gusts along the Andalucian coast and in the Strait.

Outlook:
The front which has been affecting the Canaries will move to affect the SE of the mainland from tomorrow with heavy rain and high winds on the way.
Moderate and persistent rain on Friday in Andalucia, moving east.
Breaks in the cloud in the north of the country.
