Madrid health centre refuses to treat woman as she was from Sevilla

A Madrid health centre is reported to have refused to attend to a woman patient because she was from Sevilla. The Association for the Defence of Patients rights has placed an official complaint against the Tres Cantos health centre which refused to attend to the woman as she was not on the local census, but in the area on a temporary work contract. She had presented herself at the health centre suffering from vomiting, dizziness and a lack of balance.

The centre said she would have to pay for her treatment or bring a certificate of empadronamiento. Finally the woman had to leave without being seen.

The Patients Association says that the case was a shameful example of the health service in the Madrid region.
