Italy will be Spain’s quarter final rival in the Euro 2008 on Sunday after the Italians beat the French 2-0 yesterday and took advantage of the defeat of Romania by Holland.
The Spain-Italy game is to be played in Vienna at 8,45pm on Sunday and for many the Italians are the worst rivals for Spain. Many remember that it was Italy who knocked Spain out of the 1994 World Cup in the United States, and generally the Italians are considered to raise their game in the decisive matches. In fact Spain has not beaten Italy in an official match since the 1920 Olympic Games.
Meanwhile Spanish manager, Luis Aragonés, is expected to field a side of substitutes today for the last first round game against Greece where only Spanish pride is at stake.
