Judge Miguel Ángel Torres called as witness against Judge Urquía

Judge Miguel Ángel Torres, best known as the instruction judge for the first stages of the Malaya case in Marbella, has been called by the Andalucian High Court of Justice, TSJA, to appear as a witness in the second court case opened against the judge Francisco de Urquía.

Urquía is accused of taking part in an attempted extortion with the businessman Arnaud Albouhair and luxury magazine editor Igor Mier. The case is linked to the Hidalgo money laundering case, also based in Marbella, which was being headed by Urquía a year ago.

Judge Torres has been called to appear on September 19, with judicial sources describing it as a formality.

Judge Urquía was sent to prison for two years in August for accepting 73,800 € from the ex municipal real estate assessor in Marbella, Juan Antonio Roca, in exchange for judicial favours.
