The ex Chief of Local Police in the Madrid town of Coslada, Ginés Jiménez, has given an interview to the El Mundo newspaper. It’s his first interview since he was arrested on May 9, with 12 of his agents, accused of making threats, perversion of the course of justice, bribery, money laundering and the illegal possession and use of weapons.

He is accused of running the town as if he was the local sheriff, but tells the paper that for some time the National Police had been after him, and that the Madrid Partido Popular are determined to grab control of the Coslada Ayuntamiento.

He also told the paper that on the charges of sexual abuse and prostitution, he had no idea what it was about.
