Spanish lawyer arrested in Argentina

The Spanish lawyer José Emilio Rodríguez Menéndez has been arrested in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The arrest was carried out in a joint operation between Spanish and Argentinean police and comes after the lawyer fled from Spain during a four day prison pass granted last August 18. He is thought to have headed to Paraguay where police lost the trail until now.

The lawyer was serving a ten year sentence in Spain for defrauding Hacienda tax authorities here, and was with his wife at the time of his arrest yesterday.
