Hospitals in Málaga province are attending to an ever-increasing number of foreigners, both resident and tourist, leading last year to the Andalucian Health Service claiming a total of 16.7 million € from the patients or their health insurance companies.

Marbella is where most foreign patients from elsewhere in Europe, Morocco and Latin America are attended to, led in number by the British. Diario Sur reports today that the fact that bills are issued for the payment of such treatments does not always mean that the money is collected in.

The Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella issued bills for 12 million € last year, way ahead of the Carlos Haya in Málaga, the second hospital treating foreigners in the province at 2.8 million €.
