Internet dating has not turned out well for a Murcia plumber, Gregorio Pedreo. Two years ago he met with a woman who he made contact with in an internet chat room, and since then she has not left him alone.
He says he had no more than a coffee with the woman, but is now daily bombarded with as many as 40 messages and phone calls a day, and has found the tyres of his car slashed on several occasions, according to 20 minutos newspaper. Trouble started when she asked the plumber to come and ‘fix her heater’, and he decided to pass. Gregorio says that since then his life has become hell.
He has now requested a distancing order against her.
Mercedes Patón from the lawyers Patón and Associados has commented on the case, and says the current domestic violence law is unjust when a man is the victim.
'If a man insults a woman he could find himself in jail', she said, 'but if a woman insults a man, a 30 € fine could be issued'.
