A Spanish fishing boat based in Cartagena, the ‘Ciudad de Cartagena’ has been ordered to pay a 28,000 € fine for fishing illegally in waters off Malta, according to sources at the offices of the Government Delegation in Murcia.
The fine could have been as large as 250,000 € after the boat was caught fishing in Maltese waters, but apparently a willingness to talk and a good atmosphere between the two sides has resulted in the lower 28,000 € fine.
