A day after the killing of 71 year old Basque businessman, and father of five, Ignacio Uria Mendizábal, the political parties with parliamentary representation in Spain have once again shown a united front against terrorism. The will be joined by union and employers representatives at 11am this morning in the Congress of Deputies for a further demonstration against Basque terrorists ETA.
As on previous occasions, a statement will be read condemning the latest ETA killing and insisting on the need for unity against terrorism.
A minute’s silence will be held at noon today on the steps of Congress and outside town halls across the country.
Ignacio Uria becomes the 41st businessman to be killed by the Basque terrorists. The Basque Interior Ministry says that he was shot dead by two gunmen in their 30’s who fired three times and then escaped in an Alfa Romeo car.
ETA have killed four times and carried out some 20 attacks so far this year.
Meanwhile at the restaurant where Ignacio was heading for lunch and to play cards yesterday, the card game continued, with someone else taking his place at the table.
