Despite the efforts of conversationalists, the population of Iberian Lynx has reduced by 85% since 1990.
Ecologistas en Acción have warned that the cat is in an ever greater danger of extinction because they continue to get run over by vehicles when crossing roads.
They are demanding that a greater effort be made to accurately locate where the Lynx are living, especially in the regions of Extremadura, Madrid and Castilla y León.
Last year nine Lynx were found dead, six in the Doñana Nature Park and three in the Sierra Morena.
There is an estimated total population of 160 across Spain despite the documented birth of 64 cubs last year.
