Heroin smuggler arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Civil Guard officers based at the port in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have arrested a 32 year old man from Bilbao after he admitted that he had swallowed 36 capsules of heroin in an attempt to smuggle the drug onto the islands. It amounted to half a kilo.

Named as A.D.B., he confessed after he was told that he would be x-rayed to confirm the officers’ suspicions.

EFE news agency reports that he was admitted to hospital so nature could take its course and the drugs could be expelled naturally.
