Another arrest has been made in the case of the murdered priest, 75 year old Salvador Fernández Ciller, who was found beaten to death in his home in Murcia City on 11th April.
Ramona M.S., a 25 year old Romanian woman who is one of the two main suspects in the case, was remanded to prison on Sunday, following her arrest in Romania on 24th May. Her 30 year old partner, Marius N., was arrested at the San Andrés bus station in Murcia on 14th May, when he returned from hiding in Romania. EFE reports that he had previously fled to Salamanca immediately after the crime.
The judge decided to only charge two other Romanian nationals arrested shortly after the murder with aggravated burglary, saying that the robbery took place three days after his death and was unconnected with the more serious crime.
The retired priest worked as a missionary in South America for many years before returning to Murcia 19 years ago, where he acted as parish priest for two churches.
