A woman who suffered a miscarriage on board an immigrant boat bound for the Canary Islands is said to be stable, after being admitted to hospital in Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura, on Saturday.
She told Cruz Roja volunteers at the port in Gran Tarajal that she threw the three month foetus overboard, a statement which the two other women on board both confirmed.
Their vessel was spotted by a Coastguard plane after one of the 36 passengers contacted emergency services for help.

Another immigrant boat reached El Cabrón Beach, in the Gran Canarias town of Agüimes, on Saturday, with 15 people on board. Authorities are still looking for eight of the passengers.

A third cayuco of 139 immigrants reached port in Santa Cruz de Tenerife after it was spotted 30 miles off the coast of Güímar. They said they set off from Casamans, in the south of Senegal, 13 days ago.
