The Ministry for Development has ignored some criticism and awarded to tender the last stretch of the AVE high speed train line in the Vega Baja.
The contract goes to the Saitec company who will build the line between Elche and San Isidro de Albatera.
It means that all the line sections between Alicante and Murcia are in progress. Under the plans the AVE and the local trains will share the same track between Alicante and Murcia.
The total budget for the work known as the central corridor is 268 million €, which includes the construction of new stations at Elche and Orihuela.
