A previously unseen video, but used as evidence in the Madrid Train Bombings case, has been released to the public and broadcast by the Telecinco TV channel.
It shows three of the Islamic terrorists who died in the explosion in Leganes claiming responsibility for the bombings and links the attack to Spain’s role in the war in Iraq, also showing the photographs taken in the Azores of President Bush, Tony Blair, and José María Aznar.
The image of the politicians follows images of some of the dead in Iraq, while a caption shows the word ‘why’ in both English and Arabic. The video was found by the police in the rubble after the Leganés flat explosion, and indicates a clear link between the March 11 2004 attack and the presence of Spanish troops in Iraq.
The PP Spokesman in Congress, Eduardo Zaplana, invited the Prime Minister to admit that there was no such link just hours after the National Court sentence was announced, something which José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero declined to do.
