The Civil Guard’s nature protection branch, Seprona, have recovered 16 archaeological artefacts from a French couple who were caught using a metal detector in the Sierra Cabrera on Tuesday, near a site dating from the Moorish occupation of Spain.
Named by Ideal Almería as Robert E.M. and Marie P.C.Y., they escaped on two quad bikes and were found hiding out in a cave in the area two hours later.
The Civil Guard said they live in Mojácar.
