Three injured in explosion at Cádiz quarry

A sudden explosion at a quarry in inland Cádiz province on Monday afternoon has left three men in hospital after they were caught in the blast which, according to reports, could be heard for a radius of some kilometres. One man received minor injuries, while a colleague suffered deep wounds to both his legs.
The most seriously hurt is a 26 year old who lost three fingers in the explosion. There are also fears that he may lose a leg.
He was helicoptered to hospital in Seville.
Civil Guard explosives and weapons experts were working at the scene in San José del Valle late on Monday afternoon to determine the cause of the explosion.
