The wife of a man who was found dead in his home in Sanlúcar de Barrameda on 9th January was arrested this weekend, after the autopsy results showed evidence of murder. It was previously thought to have been a possible suicide and that he had cut his veins.

Fifty year old C.M.C., who reported finding her husband’s bleeding body lying in the bath when she returned home from buying bread, was released with charges on Monday, ahead of the results of further forensic reports. Reporting on her account of what she found when she arrived home, La Voz Digital said the woman removed a pair of kitchen scissors she found embedded in her husband’s body, 55 year old M.G.P., which is how she said she injured her hand. She also said she found a kitchen knife in the bath.

The paper said the autopsy showed more than 60 stab wounds, and that some of the injuries were too severe to be consistent with a suicide. They also note a statement from a witness who is said to have heard the man calling out weakly for help while his wife was still in the house.
