Five children are in hospital with smoke inhalation, after a fire at a juvenile care centre in Puerto Real on Sunday morning. Two others received treatment at a local health centre.
It happened at the Nuestra Señora del Rosario shortly before 10am, when one of the children set fire to a mattress, and it’s understood none of the staff were injured. At least three of the bedrooms in the centre were damaged by the flames.
Two women are meanwhile in hospital after a fire in their flat in San Fernando on Saturday afternoon. La Voz Digital said they are a 94 year old woman and her 64 year old daughter. The mother is said is to have suffered serious burns to her face, and to both arms and legs.
