Manuel Chaves, the President of the Junta de Andalucía up for re-election as the Socialist candidate in the regional poll this March, has guaranteed access to broadband internet throughout Andalucía if he is re-elected for another term in the Spring poll. The infrastructure would be put in place over the next legislature.
Speaking at a Young Socialists conference held in Seville on Sunday, Chaves, who has been Junta President since 1990, made another promise: free one mega Internet to all the people of Andalucía via agreements with companies in the sector.
Speaking of Spaniards born since 1986 as the ‘European generation,’ Chaves also promised 1,200 Spanish-English bilingual teaching centres by the end of the legislature to come. The current number is 400.
He called on the all the young people to turn out to vote on 9th March, and noted almost 1,700,000 who failed to do so in 2004.
