The Provincial Court in Granada has sentenced José M.G. to 32 years in prison, found guilty of the murder of Beatriz Collado, who body was found floating in the local Cubillas reservoir two years ago. The guilty man will also have to pay 240,000 € in compensation to her family, and a further 12,000 to her boyfriend.
The sentence highlighted the ‘cruelty and danger’ represented by the accused who will now, under the current penal code in Spain, serve the maximum term of 25 years in prison. The court considered that he sexually assaulted Beatriz before killing her.
