It’s been revealed that a man who was arrested in Maliaño, Cantabria, this Saturday for killing his father was previously sentenced to five years in prison in 1999 for murdering his mother. Thirty nine year old José Alberto P.H. confessed to the court in 1999 that he had killed his disabled mother two years earlier after she told him off for putting her mobile phone up for sale. She died 11 days after his release from a third spell in a psychiatric hospital, EFE said.
José Alberto was arrested at his father’s home on Saturday night after he allegedly stabbed his 72 year old father to death after an argument and also tried to kill his sister. The sister jumped from a first floor window to escape.
He was governed by a distancing order at the time the attack took place.
Lola Gorostiaga, Vice-President of the Cantabria government, has confirmed to EFE that the distancing order was issued to protect the accused’s entire family, and that he was not currently admitted to a psychiatric centre.
