A 45 year old electrician has become the second person to die in an accident at work in Málaga province this week, after an accident at a local gym in Nerja on Tuesday afternoon. EFE said he was electrocuted to death when he was carrying out repairs on motors at the gym in pasaje Milenio.
The Absolute Wellness gym, called 'Millenium' beforehand, was only re-opened to the public on Monday. La Opinion de Málaga reports this morning that the Alvafon company was responsible for the installation.
The deceased is a local man, named with the initials J.M.H.R. who was well known for working as a waiter for 10 years in the Hotel Nerja Club.
The first fatality was in Málaga City on Monday afternoon, where a 38 year old man became caught in a pressing machine on the Guadalhorce industrial estate as he was trying to unblock it. Named as A.S.S., the news agency said he had been working for the company, Tránsito del Mediterráneo, since last October and was filling in for a colleague who had recently got married.
These two latest deaths bring work fatalities in the province up to four so far this year. There were 14 throughout 2007.
Union members held a silent demonstration in the provincial capital on Tuesday morning, in a protest against the death of A.S.S. and accidents in the workplace.
