A report commissioned by the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, the Patronato de Turismo, gives accommodation top marks from tourists who visited the area. It got a mark of 7.87 in the ‘Turímetro’ report drawn up by SOPDE, and brings it up from its second place in 2006, when it scored 7.63.

Public services were bottom of the list, with an average mark for the year of 6.57, EFE said. The score dropped to an average of 5.55 for the last quarter of 2007, with a marked difference in the score given by different nationalities: tourists from Ireland gave public services 7.19 for the last quarter, while the mark from Spaniards was just 4.66.

The Costa del Sol as a quality destination received above average marks from all nationalities, with slightly higher marks from Germany and the UK, than from Spain and France. The top score of 7.89 came from British tourists.
