A retired police officer has given himself up to police in Motril, and has confessed to stabbing his son who was admitted to the Santa Ana district hospital in the early hours of Saturday with four serious stab wounds: two in the chest, and others in the stomach and ribs. The assault is said to have happened outside the family home on Avenida Perón in Salobreña, and was witnessed by a number of people.

It’s understood to have happened during an argument, according to information from Ideal newspaper, allegedly when the 23 year old son arrived home late. The paper said his father, E.A.R., aged 60, drove immediately to the National Police station in Motril to confess.

EFE meanwhile reports on the case of A.M.R., a man from Almuñécar who a court has recently found guilty of physical and mental abuse of his partner over a period of five years. He has been given a term of two and a half years in prison, together with a 200 metre distancing order which will remain in place for five years.
