Julián Muñoz, the ex Mayor of Marbella arrested in the Malaya corruption investigation who is serving time for planning crimes, could get his first pass to leave the provincial prison in Alhaurín de la Torre if the judge decides to accept the proposal from the prison. The ex Mayor has now served more than half of his sentence, and La Opinión de Málaga reports that a meeting at the prison agreed with only one vote to propose that he be granted his first pass. Muñoz has been inside for almost two years.

The paper notes three sources for their information, but also points out that the prison governor, Antonio Guerrero, has denied that any evaluation has taken place by staff at the centre.

It would now be up to the judge in charge of such matters to decide on whether the proposal should be approved or not. Muñoz was previously refused a pass for last Christmas and is serving a sentence for the Moansa planning case. He has recently been sentenced for two other planning crimes, totalling a further 18 months, although neither sentence is firm at this stage.
