There are unconfirmed reports in the Murcia press that the burnt and mutilated body which was found on a farm in La Palma, Cartagena, on Saturday is that of a 29 year old woman from Torre Pacheco who was reported missing on Saturday morning. Quoting sources close to the investigation, La Verdad newspaper said a ring the dead woman was wearing has been identified as his wife’s by the missing woman’s husband.

The paper also reports that at least two people are believed to have been involved in the crime.

The body was found by the owner of the land at around 7am on Saturday, with signs that the victim’s throat had been cut. She had been raped and beaten before she was killed, and those responsible had also cut off all the fingers on her right hand in an attempt to avoid identification. Her body was then doused in an inflammable liquid and set alight.
