A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a National Police officer in the centre of Benidorm last weekend, where 54 year old Fabián Torres was shot in the chest while on patrol in the district of El Molino in the early hours of Saturday.

The EFE news agency said the man in custody, named by Información newspaper as L.G.D., was arrested on Wednesday, and has been freed with charges after appearing before the judge. The first suspect, a man said to be around 20, tested positive in a test for gunpowder residue and has been remanded to prison. The weapon and bullets used in the shooting have yet to be found however, but it’s believed to have been a .22 calibre gun.
