A Moroccan woman was killed on Sunday when she was shot in a bar she ran in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca province, Castilla y León. A suspect is in custody after giving himself up to the Civil Guard. It happened in the Bar Lisboa on Avenida de Portugal on the outskirts of the town at around 12.30 pm on Sunday, and it’s understood that she was shot with a hunting shotgun. Emergency services pronounced the woman dead when they arrived on the scene.

She has not been named in reports, but she was believed to have been around 50 years old and had been running the bar with two countrywomen for the past month or so. The news agency said they had all previously worked together in an alternative nightclub in the town.

The man in custody is a 64 year old from Fuenteguinaldo, some 20 kms away, and is originally from the Basque Country.

In the Valencia Region, the Civil Guard are meanwhile investigating the death of a pensioner whose body was discovered by a niece in her home in Sueca on Saturday evening. Violence is suspected, and it’s believed robbery may have been the motive.

And in Galicia, police there are trying to identify a woman whose body was found on As Lapas Beach in La Coruña, at the foot of the Torre de Hércules lighthouse. She is said to be around 45 years old and her body was found on Sunday.
