It was a very strange night in Monaco as the city’s Pink Dance celebrates the Madrid Movida, the time when the Spanish capital saw a boom of creativity in pop culture.
Centre of the celebrations was film director Pedro Almodóvar, who said that the Grimaldi family had made a great effort to welcome the Spanish continent which included all the Spanish large names at the time, including singer Alaska, performance artist Paco Clavel, actresses Rossy de Palma and Bibiana Fernández, at the event in the Montecarlo Sporting Club.
The Pink Dance has been held annually in Monaco since 1954 but it is the first time the theme has been the Spanish movida.
Almodóvar commented that it was like returning to that time after a siesta of 25 years. A celebration of the freedom felt and lived in Madrid at the time.
