The father of the 15 year old boy, Manuel Marín Hidalgo, who has been missing from his home in the Málaga village of Canillas de Aceituno, fears that his son ‘has trusted someone’ and that now this person is holding him against his will.

Speaking to EFE news agency the father, who has the same name as his son, admitted that Manuel left home of his own free will, but with the passage of the week he must now be held by someone. Last Monday when he was last seen, he told a friend that he would be missing football practice, but since then nobody has seen him.

It’s thought he left home with no ID, no money and without his mobile phone, although he did take the house keys which he did not usually do. The Civil Guard is extending the search to a national level.

The boy’s mother is reported to be very badly affected, and has called for Manuel to return home as soon as possible – ‘nothing will happen’ she said.

Last night 4,500 people marched through the village of Canillas demanding the safe return of Manuel.
