A large police operation has been taking place overnight against ‘Kale Borroka’ the nationalist inspired street violence which is seen in the Basque Country. Reports indicate that ten people have been arrested in the Guipúzcoa province in the towns of Errenteria, Oiartzun and Arrasate, and that several homes have also been searched.

It’s thought that those detained are linked to vandalism against the EuskoTren train company and local electrical sub-stations, and belong to the illegal youth organisation Segi. The operation remains open and more arrests have not been ruled out.

It comes a day after ETA placed a bomb outside the Socialist party headquarters in a district of Bilbao. It caused slight injuries to seven regional policemen.
