Another member of the UDYCO specialist anti-drug and organised crime unit of the police in Málaga has been arrested.
The Chief Inspector, named only in reports with the initials V.I.T. was arrested in the Málaga main police station by members of the Civil Guard on Saturday as part of an on-going operation based in Melilla against drug trafficking from North Africa.
Latest news on the case reveals that the case is linked to an international organisation, based in Málaga and Melilla which stole from drugtraffickers, and which also stole money to purchase and sell on drugs themselves.
Six arrests have been made in an operation codenamed by police as ‘Yolanda’. Their investigations started with intelligence about the sale of a ton of hashish in Málaga which was being set up to a British group headed by an as yet unnamed British businessman in Alhaurín de la Torre.
Reports indicate that this latest arrest is not linked in any way to other arrests made of four UDYCO officers on the Costa del Sol last month.
It’s understood the latest officer to be arrested faces charges of revealing confidential information and failing to report a crime.
