Pain and indignation in the Sevilla town of Écija, where six people of the same family have died in a house fire early on Sunday morning, thought to have been started by a traditional ‘brasero’ under the dining table stove. Some in the town say that the fire service took too long to arrive at the scene, with protestors even throwing stones at the fire engines.
Other reports, and the local Mayor, Juan Wic, say however that the fire service was on the scene in five minutes.
The people were trapped inside by the fire because of the railings on all the windows.

And last night an 85 year old woman and 41 year old man died from smoke and gas inhalation coming from a fire which started in the lounge of their home in Madrid. It happened in the Avenida de la Abufera, as the gases from the fire made their way into the bedrooms of the home. The family dog also died.
