Renault is convinced that the improvements it has made to the aerodynamics of the R28 car will see a better performance from the car at the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend.
The optimistic comments come from Bob Bell, the technical director of Renault who added that Fernando Alonso continues to be very positive about the future as the team is concentrated in giving the Spanish driver a car which is capable of fighting for the title. Bell claimed that improvements in grip on corners at high speed had been achieved, as well as other improvements in the suspension.
For his part, Fernando Alonso has said that the first results of the new design allowed them to be somewhat optimistic, but he said it remained to be seen how the other teams had also improved their cars. Speaking on the Renault web page Alonso said he was encouraged greatly by all the support of the fans.
