National Court Judge, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has ordered five people arrested in the Basque Country to prison, on charges of taking part in ‘kale borroka’ the street vandalism which is said to be nationalist and ETA inspired. Indeed the judge has accused them of being members of the Basque Terrorist Group.

The five are part of the ten who were arrested in Guipúzcoa last Friday, and which face charges of being part of an armed gang and of street violence dating from 2005 in several areas of the province.

Some of those now sent to prison on remand appear to have amassed information on the movements of members of the Basque Socialist Party PSE. They are thought to have carried out more than a dozen of attacks in Rentería.
