Spanish Defence Minister, Carme Chacón, has completed her last visit to see Spanish troops before she gives birth, at the KFOR facilities in Sarajevo today. It follows her visit to the Spanish base in Lebanon on Monday, and she was only in Bosnia a few hours as she has to be back in Congress at four this afternoon.

Observers said the minister looked tired on this second stage of her trip as she toured the streets of Sarajevo, where she also visited the central market and purchased a Muslim tea set. A Serbian attack on the market saw the death of dozens of people, and it was that which led to the NATO intervention in the zone.

The minister has visited three of the four Spanish military missions overseas in just ten days, with only Kosovo having to wait until after the birth of Miquel, her son who will take the same name as his father. Doctors have now advised her to take a rest.
