Little demand for a Catalan college in Madrid

The Madrid regional government has announced that it will not be opening a Catalan college in the capital because of a lack of demand. The regional councillor for Education, Lucía Figar, said that only 11 families had requested that their children be taught in Catalan next year, and that as the requests corresponded to different levels they would try and give the families an option by ‘opening a section in a current college’ so the Catalan language could be studied.

The P.P controlled regional government led by Esperanza Aguirre, planed to open a new college for Catalan if there were 10 registrations per class.
