It was Real Madrid 4, Barcelona 1, last night at the Bernabeu, and as one Spanish commentator put it, the Barcelona guard of honour for Real Madrid lasted for 90 minutes.

Real Madrid dominated from start to finish, with goals from Raúl and then Robben and Higuan. The fourth goal came from a penalty converted by Van Nistelrooy after a handball from Puyol, and the consolation goal for Barça came from Henry.
It was a nightmare night for Barcelona, with Real in control and two goals ahead after 20 minutes.

The poor result from Barcelona and a 0-2 win away at Recreativo last night, means that Villarreal are now assured second place in the league, and Recreativo remain in the fight to avoid relegation.
