Fernando Alonso was happy with his sixth place in the Turkish Grand Prix yesterday, saying it was Renault’s best race so far this season, regarding the rhythm of the race.
Despite the improvements in the R28 car, Alonso admits that they are still a long way from winning a race. He told the press that realistically he is fighting for seventh place, something he has been saying for some time, and which he said was shown again in Turkey. The race was won by Felipe Massa in his Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton coming in second.
He said he did not expect any improvement for the next race which is in Monaco, and where he said calibrating the car was always a problem. He’s won the Monaco race for the past two years.
