The instruction judge in the Malaya case has agreed to postpone the investigatory hearing which was to have been attended by Juan Antonio Roca, the ex Municipal Real Estate Assessor of Marbella Town Hall, and the man alleged to be at the centre of the corruption in the town today.

Roca’s lawyer, José Aníbal Álvarez, had asked for a suspension so that he could properly prepare his defence, saying that with ‘the touristic tour of prisons’ undergone by his client, that had not been possible with him being subjected to four prisons in five days. He said that Roca was ‘physically and psychologically exhausted’.

Another reason given for the postponement was that the hearing, which should have taken place today, Wednesday, in the judge’s office, did not have space for the some 30 lawyers from other people processed in the case who wanted to attend.

The postponed hearing will now take place in the Marbella courts on May 29. Before that Roca will be back in the court on the 27th on a separate charge as part of the Malaya case where he faces allegations of an economic crime.
