The Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, has been defending the idea of the construction of a ten story hotel in the city centre. The building would be twice as tall as any other new construction in Málaga city, but the mayor says the project, designed by the architect Rafael Moneo, was ‘well designed and balanced’.

The Mayor told a press conference yesterday that the project had been debated at length in the City Hall and was first presented some four years ago.

The hotel will be built in Calle Hoyo de Esparteros, next to the Esperanza bridge.
