A municipal policeman from Coslada, the Madrid town rocked by the corruption now revealed in the local force, has said that the local police chief, Ginés Jiménez, the so-called ‘Sheriff’ of the town, could have established influence and possible illegal activities elsewhere.

Speaking on Veo television, the policeman claimed that the chief would often go to two large discotecs in the capital and he spoke of night-time parties with judges and prosecutors. He also said on the day that the Guateque case broke in Madrid, the chief was very nervous and travelled to capital.

The policeman claimed that Ginés Jiménez was always protected by the previous Mayor of Coslada, José Huelamo, and also said that some municipal policemen had simply paid to join the local force.
